Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and founder of the U.S.-Philippine Friendship Caucus, announced that the Philippines will receive $500 million in supplemental security assistance. This development follows an amendment authored by Rep. Issa to the House national security supplemental appropriations package.
"The announcement of critically needed additional security assistance for the Philippines underscores and reinforces the enduring partnership between our two nations and our mutual commitment to the defense of freedom in the Indo-Pacific," said Rep. Issa. "Today, we say again: America and the Philippines stand shoulder to shoulder, and alongside all people of goodwill, against the territorial aggression of the Chinese Communist Party."
In April, Rep. Issa's amendment recommending $500 million in Foreign Military Financing (FMF) to the Philippines was adopted by the House through a bipartisan and unanimous voice vote.
