Rep. Young Kim expressed her gratitude for the bipartisan support in passing the Iran Counterterrorism Act, a bill aimed at establishing Congressional oversight of Iran sanctions. Kim emphasized the importance of preventing further empowerment of Iran, stating, “We cannot afford to embolden Iran – the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism – any further.”

Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry commended Rep. Kim for her initiative in addressing the issue of terrorism, stating, “H.R. 6323 ensures U.S. secondary sanctions against Iran can only be waived if Iran has ceased support for international terrorism.” McHenry highlighted the importance of Congress having a stronger role in future sanctions relief for Iran, especially in light of recent terrorist attacks.

The bipartisan support for the Iran Counterterrorism Act was evident as the House passed the bill, with lawmakers coming together to restore Congressional oversight and hold Tehran accountable. Rep. Kim's leadership in this effort was acknowledged, given her positions as Vice Chairwoman of the Financial Services Subcommittee on National Security and Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Indo-Pacific.

In conclusion, the passing of the Iran Counterterrorism Act represents a significant step towards ensuring that Iran's support for international terrorism is addressed and that appropriate measures are taken to prevent further terrorist activities.
