Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 40th District since 2021, expressed her support and initiatives on various matters through a series of tweets on May 1, 2025. Her recent activity highlights her engagement in both national and international matters.

On May 1, 2025, Kim announced, “I’m proud to back a bipartisan resolution commemorating Black April & 50 years since the Fall of Saigon.” She emphasized the significance of this event to the Vietnamese American community in Orange County, pointing out their awareness of the atrocities of communism and the value of freedom.

In another statement from the same day, Kim emphasized the need for transparency in educational costs. She declared, “Students & families deserve transparency on the costs of going to college when evaluating educational opportunities.” She announced her role in leading a bipartisan, bicameral bill intended to revamp and simplify the financial aid process.

Additionally, Kim highlighted international affairs by expressing her approval of the administration’s efforts to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She stated, “Great news for the American people and for innocent Ukrainians fighting for their livelihoods against Putin’s unprovoked aggression.” She commended the administration’s initiative to conclude this crisis and ensure accountability from Russia, promoting peace through strength.

Young Kim, born in 1962 in Incheon, South Korea, and a graduate of the University of Southern California, has a comprehensive political career. She served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016 before entering U.S. Congress. She now resides in La Habra.
