Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, shared her thoughts on various matters via social media. Kim, who succeeded Gil Cisneros in the U.S. Congress and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016, is an advocate for economic security and veterans’ welfare.

On May 6, 2025, Young Kim highlighted Taiwan’s significance to the United States as both a partner and a critical player in semiconductor production. She stated that “Taiwan is not just a steadfast partner to the United States – it’s home to 90% of advanced semiconductors.” Kim expressed pride in collaborating with fellow representatives Zach Nunn and Ritchie Torres to protect the economy against potential threats such as attacks or blockades targeting Taiwan.

Later that day, Kim addressed issues related to military sexual trauma (MST) claims at the Veterans Affairs (VA). She emphasized the importance of timely and compassionate processing of these claims by stating “As the VA receives more MST claims, staff must be prepared to process claims in a timely and caring manner.” She announced her bipartisan bill’s passage through the House Veterans Affairs Committee, which aims to update training for Clinical Documentation Content Experts (CDCEs) and provide certainty for veterans filing MST claims.

In another post on May 6, Kim celebrated the Lestonnac Clinic’s arrival in her district, CA-40. She noted that it is “the first clinic in the nation to provide uninsured patients access to free outpatient surgeries.” Kim expressed gratitude for their support of the community.

Young Kim was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and resides in La Habra. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
