Young Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district, recently shared her thoughts on various topics through social media posts. Her comments ranged from international affairs to local community engagements and national observances.

On May 11, 2025, Young Kim expressed her gratitude towards the Trump administration for securing the release of Edan Alexander, who had been held hostage for 550 days. She stated, “This is great news. Thank you to the Trump administration for securing Edan Alexander’s release after being held hostage for 550 days. Praying for his safe return home to his loved ones.” Kim also called for Hamas to release all remaining hostages.

The following day, May 12, 2025, Kim attended an event celebrating Small Business Week where she met with entrepreneurs in RSM (Rancho Santa Margarita). She tweeted about her experience saying, “Great to be back home to share my gratitude to our amazing RSM entrepreneurs during Small Business Week & talk about my work in Congress to slash burdensome regulations, address SALT, & promote financial literacy.” She thanked the RSM Chamber for hosting her.

Later that day, Kim acknowledged #PoliceWeek by expressing appreciation for law enforcement officers. In her post she said, “I’m so grateful for our brave men and women in blue who run into harm’s way to keep us safe and protect our communities.” She praised them as heroes and extended her thanks.

Young Kim has been serving in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021. Prior to this role, she served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and now residing in La Habra, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
