Today, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department released a Critical Incident Video showing a deputy-involved shooting that took place on May 10, 2025, in Laguna Hills, California. The video is accessible at https://youtu.be/ihbmhUvlIHY.
The department stated, "In order to foster greater public trust with the community we serve," they will release such videos for incidents where department members' actions significantly impact the department or community, or involve deadly force or serious injury.
These videos aim to provide "a clear and concise overview of the incident with relevant video, audio, photographs and information" to contextualize events before, during, and after critical incidents. They present factual circumstances known at the time without drawing conclusions about deputies' adherence to policies until investigations are complete.
The investigation into this specific shooting will be conducted by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
