Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 40th district, shared several updates on social media reflecting her engagement with various community and national topics. Her posts touch on the significance of small businesses, commemorate a historical space exploration milestone, and highlight efforts in financial literacy.

On May 5, 2025, Young Kim acknowledged the contributions of local entrepreneurs during #SmallBusinessWeek. She stated, "Our CA-40 entrepreneurs are the gears keeping our communities running – creating jobs, supporting our economy, and chasing their American dream." Kim expressed gratitude for their role in driving economic growth.

Later that day, she commemorated a significant event in U.S. space history. On May 5th, Young Kim tweeted about Alan Shepard's achievement as the first American to travel into space on this day in 1961. She remarked on his prior roles as a Navy aviator and test pilot before becoming one of NASA's initial astronauts. "Thank you for helping pave the way for U.S. space exploration!" she wrote.

In another post from May 5th at 20:07 UTC, Young Kim discussed her participation in a financial literacy roundtable at the U.S. Treasury Department last week. As co-chair of the Financial Literacy & Wealth Creation Caucus, she emphasized her commitment to bipartisan collaboration on policies that aid Americans in improving credit and achieving economic advancement."I’ll keep working with bipartisan colleagues & the administration on policies that help Americans grow their credit," she noted.

Young Kim has served in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and was previously part of California’s State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and residing currently in La Habra, she holds a BBA from the University of Southern California.
