Fatal traffic collision in Stanton leads to DUI arrest on charges of murder

On May 2, 2025, around 11 p.m., a serious traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Pacific Avenue in Stanton, California. Orange County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the incident involving a Dodge sedan and a Toyota van, which resulted in a head-on collision, impacting an unoccupied parked vehicle.

The driver of the van, Hoanh Thanh Ngo, aged 55, from Stanton, died from injuries at the scene.

James Anthony Deleon, aged 30, from Irvine, who was driving the Dodge, attempted to flee the scene on foot. Authorities detained Deleon shortly afterward and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence with a previous conviction. He was then booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of CPC 187(a) – Murder, and CVC 23153(a) – DUI Causing Injury.
