Young Kim, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 40th district, replaced Gil Cisneros in 2021. Throughout her political career, Kim has voiced support for multiple causes, captured in her social media posts on April 30, 2025.
Commemorating a significant historical event, Kim noted on April 30, 2025, "Today marks 50 years since the Fall of Saigon. Outside of Vietnam, Orange County is proudly home to the largest Vietnamese population. Many fled here 50 years ago. On Black April, my heart is with our community & the brave troops who defended freedom in the Vietnam War." This marks her recognition of the historical migration to Orange County and acknowledgment of those affected by the Vietnam War.
Further reflecting on business challenges, Kim shared insights on April 30, 2025, into discussions with small energy business owners. She stated "Great to see energy small business owners from California, including from Orange, to discuss how burdensome regulations & mandates make it harder to transport fuel & stay afloat. I appreciate their work to create local jobs & provide energy resources to our communities." Her meeting underscored the difficulties faced by energy businesses due to regulatory pressures and her appreciation for their contributions to job creation.
In a post from the same day, Kim reiterated her backing of federal support for domestic violence initiatives, highlighting the importance of such support. She remarked "I've always supported initiatives like the Violence Against Women Act & Family Violence Prevention & Services Act that directly support local organizations uplifting domestic violence survivors. These groups save lives & deserve federal funding." This demonstrates her commitment to federal funding for organizations aiding domestic violence survivors.
Young Kim was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and now resides in La Habra, California. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California, earned in 1985.
