Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 40th district, shared reflections and engagements in a series of tweets over recent days.
On April 10, 2025, Kim commemorated the signing of the Taiwan Relations Act, noting its significant impact on U.S.-Taiwan relations. She stated, "Today marks the 46th anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act, a cornerstone of U.S.-Taiwan relations." She underscored the legislation's role in bolstering partnership and promoting peace, security, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Meeting with young Californians, Kim expressed her excitement in an April 11 tweet. During a school trip to Washington D.C., she interacted with 8th graders from Serra Catholic School and discussed congressional functions. Kim shared, "I loved meeting bright & enthusiastic 8th graders...and answer their questions about how Congress works." She emphasized the importance of young people engaging in democratic processes.
Additionally, Kim highlighted her meeting with California State University, Fullerton's President, Ron Rochon, on April 11. In her tweet, she expressed gratitude, stating, "I appreciate @CSUF President Ron Rochon for meeting with me to share their priorities for the upcoming year." With a personal connection as a mother to three Titan graduates, she reiterated her pride in the institution's contributions to Orange County students.
Young Kim has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2021, representing California's 40th district. Prior to that, she served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962, Kim currently resides in La Habra. Kim graduated from the University of Southern California in 1985 with a BBA.
