Cong. Young Kim seeks to end legacy admissions, emphasize economic recovery

Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 40th district since 2021, shared several updates on April 10, 2025, through her Twitter account, where she regularly communicates her legislative activities and engagements.

In a tweet posted at 15:39 UTC, Young Kim expressed appreciation for serving alongside Representative Maria Salazar, stating, "Honored to serve with you, @RepMariaSalazar! ".

Later, at 17:46 UTC, Kim announced a legislative initiative she introduced, the Fair College Admissions for Students Act. The bill aims to eliminate legacy and donor-based admissions at U.S. colleges, advocating for merit-based selection. She declared, "I just introduced the Fair College Admissions for Students Act to end legacy and donor admissions at U.S. colleges. The only standard for college admissions for students should be their merit."

At 20:40 UTC, Young Kim addressed the nation’s financial state, asserting the national debt had surpassed $36 trillion. She underscored the importance of addressing this issue, suggesting policy changes to restore economic stability and the American Dream. She emphasized on several points, including securing the border, boosting U.S. energy independence, reducing taxes, and further economic strategies. Young Kim, serving since 2021, replaced Gil Cisneros and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea, in 1962, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California in 1985 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She resides in La Habra.
