Young Kim, a Congress member representing California’s 40th district, recently took to social media to express her views on several legislative matters. Her April tweets highlighted her positions on issues related to human rights, banking, and election integrity.

On April 9, Kim addressed the issue of Uyghur human rights abuses by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She stated, "The CCP’s detainment, harassment, intimidation, surveillance & genocide of Uyghurs is unacceptable." She further informed that the House Foreign Affairs Committee had passed the Uyghur Policy Act, aiming to increase U.S. accountability actions against the CCP.

Another tweet from April 9 criticized a regulation put forth by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Kim argued that the overdraft rule could limit banking services for underserved communities, stating, "Today I voted to strike down the Biden-Harris administration’s harmful rule that leaves Americans behind." She emphasized the importance of easing access to banking services rather than restricting it.

Finally, Kim discussed her stance on voting rights on April 10. She announced her support for the SAVE Act, which promotes the requirement that only U.S. citizens can vote in elections. She affirmed, "American elections are meant for the American people to cast their vote and have their voice heard. This is common sense."

Young Kim has served in the U.S. Congress, representing California’s 40th district, since 2021. Before this role, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in 1962 in Incheon, South Korea, Kim moved to the United States, where she graduated from the University of Southern California in 1985 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
