A tragic incident unfolded on April 9, 2025, in Mission Viejo as deputies responded to a call from the 27000 block of Camden. The call was made by a family member who discovered her 21-year-old brother, Cristopher Bahenabaylon, bleeding on the couch inside their apartment. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to render aid to Cristopher, who had a stab wound to his chest. Unfortunately, Orange County Fire Authority soon arrived and pronounced Cristopher deceased at the scene.

Following the incident, deputies quickly established a perimeter and collected physical evidence that resulted in the detention of a juvenile Hispanic male residing in the same apartment complex. Sheriff's homicide investigators were promptly involved, conducting interviews and collecting evidence. As a result, the juvenile was arrested and booked into the Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder. No additional information is being disclosed at this time.
