As reported by Punchbowl News, Representatives Young Kim from California and Andrew Garbarino from New York have made a statement regarding ongoing reconciliation discussions about the state and local tax (SALT) deduction cap. The current proposal suggests maintaining a $25,000 cap on these deductions.

The statement from the Republican co-chairs of the SALT Caucus expressed concern about the proposed cap. They said, "A $25,000 SALT cap does not get close to bringing relief to families unfairly burdened by the current cap." They underscored their intention to collaborate with colleagues to address the issue, highlighting their commitment to a promise made by former President Trump. "We remain committed to working with our colleagues to fulfill President Trump’s promise to address this pressing issue, and we look forward to a serious discussion," the statement concluded.

The SALT deduction cap has been an ongoing topic of debate, with various proposals aiming to adjust the limits to provide greater financial relief to taxpayers.
