On March 31, 2025, a 55-year-old inmate died at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana. The inmate, previously arrested by the Anaheim Police Department on April 17, 2024, faced charges including vehicle manslaughter with gross negligence, assault with a deadly weapon, and hit and run with injury. The inmate's identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified by the Orange County Coroner's Division.

The inmate was discovered unresponsive and alone in their cell within Module J on March 31, 2025. Efforts to revive the inmate were made by deputies and correctional medical staff. The time of death was recorded at approximately 3:05 p.m. The cause of death will be established following an independent autopsy and toxicology report.
