Congressman Darrell Issa has introduced a bill aimed at establishing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as a permanent entity within the federal government. The legislation seeks to provide DOGE with full legal authority to continue its mission of improving government efficiency.

Issa stated, "President Trump has ushered in a new era of accountability to the American people. DOGE is critical to this effort and my bill to give DOGE full legal weight will allow it to bust through the obstructionists standing in its way."

The creation of DOGE followed the November 4, 2025 elections, where voters expressed their desire for reform and a more accountable federal government. President Donald Trump established DOGE with objectives that include reducing inefficiencies, eliminating fraud, and controlling bureaucracy. In just two months since its inception, DOGE has reportedly achieved significant results across various sectors of the federal government.

The proposed legislation is co-led by Representative Cory Mills from Florida's 7th District. It aims to solidify the foundation for President Trump's reform initiatives, ensuring that they can proceed without any hindrance.

Congressman Issa also serves as a member of the House DOGE Caucus.
