Congressman Darrell Issa has announced the opening of submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. This annual contest invites high school students from California's 48th Congressional District to showcase their artistic talents, with selected works to be displayed in the Capitol Building.

"Every year, I’m so impressed by the sheer scope of imagination and range of expression that these young artists in our community share with the world. This is their opportunity to present their best and allow us to ensure it is represented in the People’s House," Congressman Issa stated.

The winning artwork will be exhibited for one year in the U.S. Capitol alongside pieces from students nationwide. The second-place artwork will be displayed in Congressman Issa's office for the same duration.

Eligible artworks must not exceed dimensions of 26 inches by 26 inches, a depth of 4 inches, or a weight of 15 pounds. If chosen as a winner, entrants are responsible for framing their artwork. Accepted categories include paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, and photography.

The first-place winner will also receive an invitation to attend a reception with other winners in Washington, D.C., during the summer months.

Submissions require a high-resolution photo of the artwork (jpeg or png format) and a completed 2025 Student Release Form sent to Steven Farmer at Steven.Farmer@mail.house.gov by noon on Friday, April 25, 2025.

For more information about the competition or inquiries, visit https://issa.house.gov/services/art-competition or contact staff member Steven Farmer at Steven.Farmer@mail.house.gov or call 760-304-7575.
