Congressman Darrell Issa has put forward President Donald Trump as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. As Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Senior Member of the Judiciary Committee, Issa highlighted Trump's impact on global peace initiatives.
Issa stated, “Not since Ronald Reagan has an American president better represented the national resolve of peace through strength or the fundamental case for a world without war. Remarkably, it was the 2024 election of Donald Trump – more than 10 weeks before his swearing in – that tangibly kickstarted the cause of peace in numerous regions of the world, and we are already seeing the benefits. I hope the Committee takes note of these extraordinary times and recognizes that President Trump ideally represents what the Nobel Peace Prize should stand for.”
In his letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Issa emphasized Trump's role in orchestrating the 2019 Abraham Accords. He described these accords as "the most significant, successful, and durable Middle East peace agreements in generations," noting that Trump has not received adequate recognition for this achievement.
The nomination by Rep. Issa was also featured by Fox News.
Darrell Issa serves California’s 48th Congressional District, covering parts of San Diego County and Riverside County. His past roles include Chairmanship of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from 2011 to 2015.
