U.S. Representative Young Kim of California's 40th district has been awarded CARE’s Global Hope Award. This accolade is given annually to one Republican and one Democrat in recognition of their efforts to support women and girls globally, coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 8.
Representative Kim expressed her gratitude, stating, “Humanitarian aid can truly save lives and expand opportunities around the world, especially for women and girls, and the success of women and girls is the world’s gain.” She added her commitment to advocating for these groups in Congress.
Michelle Nunn, president and CEO of CARE, highlighted the significance of this award. “CARE is honored to recognize two members of Congress annually – a republican and a democrat – as our Global Hope Award honorees, each of whom use their position in Washington to lift up the voices of women and girls around the world," she said. Nunn praised Rep. Kim's dedication to maintaining the United States' leadership role internationally and her bipartisan approach to international assistance.
