Inmate found dead at Santa Ana's Intake Release Center

An inmate at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana was pronounced dead on February 1, 2025. The 44-year-old individual had been in custody since July 9, 2024, following an arrest by the Newport Beach Police Department for driving under the influence and a probation violation. Authorities have not released his name as they await notification of next of kin by the Orange County Coroner’s Division.

On the morning of his death, he was discovered unresponsive in his cell located in Module J. Deputies and correctional medical staff performed life-saving efforts alongside members of the Orange County Fire Authority. Despite these efforts, he was declared deceased at approximately 8:54 a.m.

Currently, there are no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A conclusive cause will be determined after toxicology testing and an independent autopsy are completed.
