Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California's 40th district, has shared several updates on legislative efforts and priorities via her social media platform. Her recent posts address issues concerning veterans' healthcare, wildfire mitigation, and federal aid for first responders.
On January 23, 2025, Young Kim highlighted the importance of ensuring continuous healthcare for service members transitioning to civilian life. She stated, "Our service members should not have to worry about whether their families can receive VA health care as they transition to civilian life. The Combat Veterans Pre-Enrollment Act addresses any lapse in care & gives our armed forces certainty they deserve."
Later that day, she emphasized the impact of wildfires on her community and legislative actions taken to mitigate such disasters. Kim announced the passage of the bipartisan #FixOurForests Act in the House, which includes her DEMO Act aimed at deploying emerging technologies for wildfire prevention. She expressed her commitment by stating, "My community knows the damage wildfires can cause. The bipartisan #FixOurForests Act passed the House & included my DEMO Act to test & deploy emerging technologies for wildfire mitigation. I'm fighting to get this across the finish line & support our brave first responders."
In another post on January 23, 2025, Kim addressed the necessity of federal aid for first responders dealing with wildfires. She stressed that political considerations should not interfere with providing essential support: "We cannot play politics with Americans' livelihoods. If more federal aid is needed to support first responders combatting wildfires, we must deliver."
