Inmate from Theo Lacy Facility dies after hospital transport

An inmate at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange, California, died on January 17, 2025. The inmate was a 51-year-old who had been booked into the Orange County Jail on January 6 by the Anaheim Police Department. The charges included CPC 422(a) for criminal threats, CPC 417 for brandishing a weapon, and CPC 148(a)(1) for resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer. Authorities have not released the inmate's name as they are notifying next of kin.

On the day of his death, it was determined that the inmate required transportation to a hospital due to a medical issue. He was pronounced dead at approximately 10:02 a.m. Preliminarily, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. An independent autopsy and toxicology report will determine the final cause of death.
