Congressman Darrell Issa has voiced his opposition to a resolution passed by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The resolution, approved with a 3-1 vote, prohibits county cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in enforcing federal laws against criminal illegal aliens.
Issa criticized the decision, stating, "For four years, America has endured its worst border crisis ever, and nowhere has that disaster had a greater effect than our home region of San Diego and Southern California." He further commented on the impact of current immigration policies: "After all the damage that Biden-Harris open borders have done, it is astonishing that this Board of Supervisors is siding with criminal illegal aliens and pledging to oppose the law of the land. This will not stand."
The measure prevents county law enforcement from responding to ICE inquiries or sharing information about individuals' incarceration status or release dates. It also aims to restrict communication with ICE regarding violent criminal aliens involved in crimes such as assault, burglary, and sexual abuse.
Issa expressed concern over these restrictions: "The shielding of criminal illegals with a law intended to stop law enforcement represents the most radical agenda of some members of this Board. I hope common sense prevails and this agenda item is swept aside like the lawless, dangerous, and out-of-touch idea it is."
