The House of Representatives has approved S. 4367, a bill that includes $50 million in additional funding for water infrastructure in Riverside County, California. This funding was requested by Congressman Darrell Issa and Congressman Ken Calvert.
Congressman Issa highlighted the importance of managing water resources responsibly to meet community needs. "Water is one of our most vital resources, and it must be managed responsibly to meet the needs of all our people whenever they need it," he stated. He added that the new infrastructure would provide clean and reliable water to nearly one million residents in western Riverside County. Issa also expressed gratitude towards Congressman Calvert for his leadership in securing this investment.
The allocated funds will support the USACE/EMWD South Perris Groundwater Desalination initiative. This project aims to advance raw water wells development, which will improve water quality and help secure the regional water supply against drought conditions.
