On December 13, 2024, Orange County Sheriff's investigators apprehended Edward Eugene Redd, a 49-year-old resident of Lake Forest. He is suspected of robbing a Chase Bank and discharging a firearm during the incident. The robbery took place on October 17, 2024, at the Chase Bank located near Portola Parkway and Bake Parkway in Lake Forest.

During the investigation, several items were found at the scene that were believed to be linked to the robbery. These items were collected as evidence. Investigators utilized DNA technology and other investigative techniques to connect these items to Redd.

Redd was arrested without incident at around 4 a.m. on December 13 by members of the Orange County Sheriff's Southwest Investigations team and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team at his home in Lake Forest. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of violating CPC 245(a)(1), which pertains to assault with a deadly weapon, and CPC 211 for robbery.
