The House of Representatives has unanimously passed H.R. 8753, a bill that directs the United States Postal Service to assign unique zip codes to certain communities, including North Tustin in California's 40th District. This unincorporated community is part of a larger census-designated area.
Representative Young Kim, who represents California's 40th District and cosponsored the bill, expressed her support during a speech on the House floor. The legislation had previously received unanimous and bipartisan approval from the House Committee on Oversight and Reform.
"North Tustin has long been a pillar of California’s 40th District, but its status as an unincorporated area creates confusion," said Congresswoman Kim. "A unique zip code for North Tustin would provide certainty for residents who have called the community home for decades and clarity for USPS and surrounding areas."
Kim thanked the House Oversight Committee for including North Tustin in the bill and acknowledged residents' longstanding advocacy for a unique zip code. She also expressed gratitude to her colleagues in the House for their support in passing the legislation.
