The House Oversight Committee has moved forward with H.R. 8753, a bill aimed at assigning unique zip codes to certain communities, including North Tustin in California's 40th District. Representative Kim is among the cosponsors of this legislation.
"North Tustin has long been a unique community in California’s 40th District and is a census designated place, but its status as an unincorporated area can cause confusion," stated Congresswoman Kim. "Providing North Tustin with a unique zip code will create certainty for residents who have called North Tustin home for decades and clarity for tax purposes, to surrounding areas and USPS."
Don Wagner, Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, added his support: "The people of North Tustin are not represented, serviced or permitted to vote in Santa Ana elections, yet are still subject to this sales tax, solely because of their zip code. This is taxation without representation. On behalf of the people I represent in North Tustin, I applaud Congresswoman Kim for her work on behalf of the taxpayers."
The bill's passage from committee marks a step toward resolving these issues for North Tustin residents.
