The No Censors on Our Shores Act, sponsored by Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) and Congresswoman Maria Salazar (FL-27), was passed out of the House Judiciary Committee by a vote of 16-9.

The bill specifies that official acts by a foreign government official against American citizens while they are in the U.S. – that would violate their First Amendment rights had it occurred in this country – can result in refusal of entry into the United States or deportation once here.

“The free speech rights of Americans are being threatened in practically every corner of the globe. With the No Censors on Our Shores Act, foreign government officials are now on notice: deny our citizens their first amendment rights, and this country will deny you entry to America or show you the door if you are here.”
