U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) voted in favor of H.R. 8752, the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25), which includes $1.875 million in community project funding for the City of Chino Hills Fire Risk Reduction Project. This initiative aims to remove dead brush and wildfire fuel near urban areas to enhance public safety.
Rep. Kim also contributed to two bipartisan amendments incorporated into the bill: one mandating the Biden administration to develop a strategy for securing the Southern border, and another increasing resources for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Urban Search & Rescue Response System (US&R) task forces. These task forces are deployed to respond to natural disasters both in California and nationwide.
"Communities I represent face heightened public safety concerns, risks of wildfires and other natural disasters, and are just a two-hour drive away from ground zero of the worst border crisis in history," said Rep. Young Kim. "Protecting public safety and strengthening national security are critical to keeping us safe and ensuring the American dream remains alive for future generations. I’m proud to support this bill to support border patrol and emergency responders, and I’m thrilled this includes vital emergency resources for CA-40 communities and my amendment to force the Biden administration to finally create a Southern border strategy."
