U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) has collaborated with Reps. Michael Guest (MS-03), Julia Letlow (LA-05), Chris Pappas (NH-01), and Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) to present a bipartisan resolution that commemorates National Police Week and pays tribute to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Rep. Young Kim emphasized the importance of supporting law enforcement and their families, especially in light of the 136 officers who were killed on duty last year. "Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe," said Rep. Young Kim. "I will always be a loud voice for our brave men and women in uniform and fight to ensure they have the tools and training they need to do their jobs."
The resolution is backed by several organizations including the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, the Fraternal Order of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the National Association of Police Organizations.
In addition to introducing this resolution, Rep. Kim has secured crucial resources to support local law enforcement's work. She has also introduced bipartisan bills aimed at assisting local law enforcement agencies in hiring officers and enhancing community policing and training. Furthermore, she aims to improve information sharing between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to address organized retail crime more effectively.
