Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40) recently embarked on a trip to South Korea with a bipartisan Congressional delegation to engage in discussions with senior Korean elected officials and leaders in business and academia.
During her visit, Rep. Kim, who serves as the chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Indo-Pacific Subcommittee and is co-chair of the Congressional Study Group on Korea, had the opportunity to meet with prominent figures in South Korea. This included meetings with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Minister of Unification Kim YungHo, Minister of Defense Shin Won Sik, and Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul. Additionally, she engaged with leaders from Hanyang University, the American Chamber of Commerce, as well as representatives from the automotive and airline industries.
Reflecting on the significance of the U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK) alliance, Rep. Young Kim emphasized, “The U.S.-ROK alliance has grown into a strong economic and security partnership for both countries and is more important than ever as we see growing aggression on the Korean Peninsula and in the region." She further expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with President Yoon and other key stakeholders, highlighting the critical nature of their collective efforts in addressing shared threats and instability in the region.
The trip, organized by the Former Members of Congress and the Korea Society, served as a platform for fostering dialogue and cooperation between the United States and South Korea. Through her involvement in various discussions and meetings, Rep. Young Kim reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing the U.S.-ROK alliance and promoting regional stability.
