In-custody Death of Inmate from the Central Men’s Jail

The 36-year-old inmate from the Central Men’s Jail in Santa Ana, who has not been identified, passed away at a local hospital on March 11, 2024. According to the information provided, the inmate was admitted into the jail on March 6, 2024, by the Santa Ana Police Department for drug-related offenses and possession of a firearm.

The inmate was transferred to the hospital on the evening of March 10 due to a medical issue and was later pronounced dead. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, pending toxicology reports and an independent autopsy. As stated, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office will be overseeing the investigation into the in-custody death, while the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a review of the incident.

At this time, the authorities have not disclosed any further details regarding the case or the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death.
