Washington, DC –U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-40)’s record in the 117th Congress was ranked among the most effective members of Congress according to recent data by the Center for Effective Lawmaking (CEL).

Rep. Kim had the highest ranking of House Republican freshmen and was one of 10 House freshmen whose score was “exceeding expectations.” According to CEL, “research suggests that performance in a legislator’s freshman term is highly correlated with subsequent lawmaking effectiveness.”

“I came to Congress to break through the partisan gridlock, bring common sense to Washington and get things done. My record reflects my commitment to my principles and delivering results for the people of Southern California,” said Rep. Kim. “There is much more work to be done, and I will continue to fight every day to find responsible solutions to issues impacting my district and our nation and fighting to preserve the promise of America for future generations.”

During the 117th Congress, Rep. Kim:

  • Had 29 bills pass of the House and 13 signed into law;

  • Helped more than 3,500 constituents receive vital assistance from federal agencies and returned $19 million to taxpayers;

  • Visited hundreds of small businesses and public events; and,

  • Recognized over 40 Vietnam-era veterans for their service.

For her record, Rep. Kim was named a Common Ground Champion, ranked most bipartisan freshman by the Lugar Center and McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University and according to data by Quorum Analytics, and she received the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Legislative Action Award.
