Pickup truck crash in Dana Point leaves one dead and five injured

On May 6, 2025, just before noon, a single-vehicle traffic collision occurred on Dana Point Harbor Drive in Dana Point. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene where a pickup truck carrying six juveniles had struck a tree.

The driver, identified as 16-year-old Rebecca Cespedes from Dana Point, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other five passengers were taken to local hospitals. Among them, three juveniles (one female and two males) are in critical condition but are expected to survive. Two others (one female and one male) suffered minor injuries. All involved are students at Dana Hills High School.

Authorities have not yet determined if drugs, alcohol, or speed played a role in the incident.
