The Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced on April 16 that a 14-year-old male was arrested following a traffic collision involving an electric motorcycle and an elderly pedestrian in Lake Forest.
Deputies responded to the area of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive shortly before 4 p.m. after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by an e-bike. Upon arrival, they found an 81-year-old victim with life-threatening injuries, who was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene after the incident. Witnesses provided descriptions of both the suspect and his driving behavior, which was described as reckless at the time of the crash. The investigation determined that what was initially reported as an e-bike was actually an electric motorcycle designed for off-highway use. Deputies quickly identified a suspect and served a search warrant at a nearby residence in Lake Forest, where they arrested the juvenile. He has been booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall on charges related to this incident.
