On June 13, 2025, deputies responded to a disturbance in the area of Rancho Santiago and Hewes Street in unincorporated Orange. The call was made around 1:24 a.m., referencing several individuals screaming and possibly fighting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered what appeared to be a crime scene.
During the investigation, it was reported that a male subject had been taken to a local hospital with a stab wound to his chest. The victim, identified as Sergio Esquivel Sanchez, 24, from Orange, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
OC Sheriff’s Homicide investigators took over the case and determined that Melchor Aleszi, 20, from Tustin, was suspected of stabbing Sanchez. Aleszi has been arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of homicide. Authorities have stated that no further information will be released at this time.
