Inmate dies following apparent suicide attempt at Theo Lacy Facility

An inmate at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange died on August 12, 2025. The individual, identified as David N. Alcazar, age 60, had been booked by the Huntington Beach Police Department on August 9, 2025. He faced charges including criminal threats, stalking, and vandalism.

According to authorities, Alcazar was found on the first floor of a barracks with injuries consistent with an apparent suicide attempt. Deputies and correctional medical staff responded and performed life-saving measures before he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officials stated that a final cause of death will be determined after an independent autopsy and toxicology report are completed.
