On the morning of November 18, 2025, a fatal traffic collision occurred near the intersection of Park Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive in Dana Point. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene after receiving a report about a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, deputies found Luis Adrian MoralesPacheco, a 13-year-old resident of San Juan Capistrano, with severe injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a white GMC pick-up truck struck MoralesPacheco and then left the scene. Witnesses assisted deputies in locating the driver approximately two to three miles away from the incident site.
The suspect has been identified as Bradley Gene Funk, 59, also of San Juan Capistrano. He was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail. The sheriff’s department reported that Funk had two previous arrests for driving under the influence and was on probation for DUI at the time of this incident. His charges include hit-and-run, suspicion of driving under the influence, and murder.
