On August 7, 2025, a deputy-involved shooting took place in a commercial parking lot in Lake Forest, California. Deputies responded to an incident involving Ethan Chase Mull, 34, who was connected to a domestic violence situation with a family member that occurred the previous day.

Authorities discovered that Mull had outstanding felony warrants for his arrest. The charges included theft, weapons violations, and narcotics-related offenses.

Deputies located Mull at about 3 p.m. near El Toro Road and Trabuco Road at a retail store. As Mull exited the store, deputies tried to detain him. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, “Mull pointed a loaded handgun at deputies, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred involving one deputy.”
