U.S. Representatives Young Kim and Josh Gottheimer have introduced the Improving Access to Small Business Information Act, a bipartisan initiative aimed at simplifying information gathering for small businesses. The bill seeks to amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, ensuring that actions such as field surveys by the SEC’s Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation are not considered information collection under the Paper Reduction Act.
Representative Young Kim stated, “The better information the federal government can gather, the better Congress and the public can identify policy gaps and help small businesses access capital they need.” She emphasized her pride in leading a bipartisan effort to enhance information gathering for small businesses, which she believes will aid in keeping policies aligned with economic growth.
Congressman Josh Gottheimer echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of small businesses to local communities. He remarked, “Small businesses are the backbone of our communities in Jersey.
