Rep. Young Kim expressed, “Math is the world’s universal language and the foundation for the industries that will control the future. STEM educational opportunities unlock new doors for students, strengthen our economy and national security, and boost U.S. competitiveness. I am proud to lead this bipartisan resolution to recognize Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month and promote the importance of STEM education for future generations to achieve their American dream.”

Congressman Kean added, “Mathematics shapes our understanding of the world, fosters innovation, and serves as a connecting fabric for all advances in science and engineering. I am proud to cosponsor this resolution, which recognizes the essential role that mathematics, and statistics play in our everyday lives. I thank Rep. Kim for leading this initiative.”

In support of the resolution, Congressman Lawler stated, “STEM fields are the bedrock of innovation and progress. We must invest in our future and in our children’s future. That’s why I was proud to help introduce the bipartisan Keep STEM Talent Act and it’s why I was proud to join Congresswoman Kim and so many of my colleagues to recognize April as ‘Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month.”

Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi emphasized, “Mathematics and statistics drive innovation while adding up to be more and more important to our evolving economy. As a former engineer, I know firsthand the value of science and technology education, and Congress should be doing more to promote STEM fields for the betterment of our workforce, our economy, and our country. I am proud to join with my colleagues in introducing this bipartisan resolution to designate April as Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month.”

Congressman Westerman highlighted, “Mathematics and statistics education are foundational in setting youth up for success in careers in science and engineering. I’m proud to join Congresswoman Kim in raising awareness of the value that mathematics and statistics education can have in the lives of young minds and on our workforce.”

Congressman Tonko concluded, “To support an innovation economy, we must engage students on the opportunities of math and statistical sciences and widen the pipeline to careers in these fields so that a diverse array of talented students can pursue them. I’m proud to join my colleagues to celebrate the current and future mathematicians and statisticians who move our country forward and improve our lives.”
